Well, that only took ten years. We're live!

The very first post: why this site exists, why it took so long, and what you can expect to find here.

Hi, and welcome to my very first post.

I have always wanted a personal page. A place for the things I build, the things I break along the way, and what I learn from both. But there was always something more urgent, and the page stayed on the “someday” list.

The funny part is that the domain is not new. I registered antonu.org about ten years ago. Since then, it has done quiet work behind the scenes: it carries my email, and it helps with my home infrastructure and whatever experiment I am running at the time. It just never had a website.

That is a little ironic for someone who works with infrastructure. Over the years, I have hosted hundreds of sites for other people and other projects. Mine was never one of them.

Why now

What finally pushed me was a small moment that kept happening. Someone asks what I have been working on, I start to explain a project, and I wish I could simply send a link with the pictures, the details, and the story behind it. After telling the same stories in person again and again, I decided it was time. So here it is.

What comes next

I will keep adding posts about the things I built and learned in the past, because the old projects deserve a write-up too. And, of course, about the new ones as they happen. Expect infrastructure, networking, electronics, and whatever else makes me curious next.

While you are here, take a look at the bookshelf. It is a simple log of the books I have read, and it will grow together with the rest of the site.

See you around!
